my attitude
The Wordsworth poem on the homepage pretty much sums up my big picture of psychological well-being. Such wellness doesn’t stem from any single accomplishment or action; rather, it stems from the embracing of all the dichotomies that make up our lives: passion and peace, movement and stagnation, and growth and regression. None of these can exist without their counterparts. The great paradox is that change can only occur when we firmly accept our current lot in life. In therapy, we will work on these seemingly conflicting elements while targeting a sense of self-empowerment and integration into a whole person. This is going to take hard work on your part. Remember this: in our relationship, you are the one who has to make your way through the forest. In my role, I hope to help you figure out whether you should stay on the ground or climb a tree to see where you are going, and I may occasionally be able to shed some light on your desired path.
