As a therapist, I am not there to "heal" you, rather, my role is to facilitate your goals and help you discover your own peace and passions. I believe that I am the “tipping point”—you are the expert on YOU, are stuck, and need a nudge.

The entire world is composed of many elements that coexist and affect each other. So too is psychological health a complex system where there is never just one culprit causing your current situation.  Many “truths” can be true at the same time—the ultimate paradox.

Wellness is fostered by the balanced elements of passion and peace.  Passion is those elements that flame the fire of life for the individual, those things that we want to change. These are our dreams...our loves...our desires. Passion must be nourished, fed, in order to survive. When our passions go hungry, they go into hibernation.

Peace is those elements that quiet the mind and soul. This is the voice of acceptance that tells us, “The way it is, is the way it should be.” Acceptance is not the same as wanting, welcoming, or loving. It is not an invitation to enter, but is an open door. Peace must be nurtured, taken care of and watched over lest it become pushed aside by more energetic forces such as anxiety and depression.

To have wellness, you must nourish the passions that drive you forward as well as nurture the peace that gives you a quiet ride.  Neither passion or peace are end goals. Passion and peace are lived, not worked toward. Passion and peace are in your midst and it is your choice to recognize them.

This is my theory of counseling and the way I carry this out is by learning where you are, where you have come from, and where you are going. To me, every person is quite individual. It is not up to me to decide what your goals should be, what is “normal” or “right,” rather, my role is to facilitate your goals and help you discover your own peace and passions.
